Wei obtained his Master of Science in Plant Biology from National Taiwan University in 2012. In 2012, he was awarded the German DAAD scholarship to pursue his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Botany in the lab of Dr. Frantisek Baluska at the University of Bonn, Germany. In his PhD, he focused on studying synaptotagmin and other synaptic vesicle-related proteins in Arabidopsis. After finishing his PhD, he started working as a postdoc in Academia Sinica, Taiwan, under the supervision of Dr. Paul Verslues and later he worked in the School of Life Sciences, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University as an associated research fellow. In January 2019, he joined Dr. Jenny Russinova’s laboratory to study plant receptor kinase-mediated endocytosis.
