PhD position in the Bio-energy and Bio-aromatics group
A 4-year PhD position is available in the VIB-UGent Bio-energy and Bio-aromatics group in the frame of the Energy Transition Funds, which aims at research and innovation to support the transition from fossil to sustainable energy use.
In brief, research will be devoted to engineering poplar and maize to improve their conversion efficiency into liquid biofuels and other products that are nowadays made from oil. The project will entail innovative engineering of lignin structure in poplar and maize using CRISPR/Cas9. The project is collaborative between Ghent University, the University of Antwerp, the Catholic University of Louvain and the University of Liege.
