Initial field test results GM poplars: bioethanol yield almost doubled

Eerste resultaten veldproef populieren: opbrengst bio-ethanol vrijwel verdubbeld

De eerste resultaten van de veldproef van VIB (Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie) met genetisch gewijzigde populieren voor de productie van biobrandstoffen zijn bekend. De opbrengst van bio-ethanol uit het hout van de populieren ligt tot 81% hoger dan bij niet-gewijzigde populieren. Dat werd in primeur gepresenteerd op de internationale conferentie 'Bioenergy Trees' in Nancy in Frankrijk.
